Exploded car tires (Jacob Jordaanshuis Antwerp 1995)
Exploded car tires lie along the road like corpses. Pierre Mertens collected them and painted them. He placed them in the large hall of the Jacob Jordaanshuis.
He placed a painted cleaning material at the front door and hung a drying rack on one of the outer windows. He also intervened with the supeast with his well-known motif. In the second room he placed some autonomous works and in a niche in the inner courtyard he installed fish that seem to swim through the wall.
