Retirement home for horses (2003)

2003 Art integration project the old people’s home ‘De Tokke’ in Waregem (B).

Waregem is world famous for its ‘Waregem race’ an annual horse race. Pierre Mertens went with the elderly to a retirement home for horses.

Photographer Zjuul Devens documented this trip and this material was the basis of two interventions in the building.

From the outside in, he placed square photos like “Toroni dots”. The line became a second line with light boxes through the cafeteria to the outside terrace.
